I wanted to update my Nokia 770 with the latest root image, so I flashed the device as described at maemo.org.
Everything went well, but it did kill all the changes I had made to the system. The 770 was for all practical purposes reset to factory default. Only the memory card was unchanged.
Note to self: do try the backup/restore utility the next time!

This afternoon the Nokia 770 crashed on my three or four times just after reboot.
It came up, I connected to my wifi and clicked “Refresh” in the News applet. It went unresponsive and rebooted after a while.
The next time I tried to connect twice and it rebooted again.
After several attempts it finally managed to boot and stay up.
I have no idea what it could be. I have used it in that spot before since I got it a few weeks back. Its the first time I experience this kind of failures.
Lets hope it doesn’t happen too often.

My Nokia 770 finally arrived. lts the first time l experience Linux as a consumer product, even though l’ve been using Linux as my primary OS since 1992. The sensation is quite strange.
My first impression is: WoW!!
The display is incredible. Though rather small, only about 4″ it is 800 pixels wide and very clear. Text can be small but there is no flicker.
Text input is by an online keyboard or by handwriting. As a matter of fact l’m writing this on the 770 using the handwriting recognition. lt is a weird way of typing, but you can get used to it. Be careful to write clear and distinct characters.
The first time l turned it on it searched for my mobile phone which it located without problems. Next it found my wifi-network, again all by itself. lt could hardly be easier.
lt was on the network in a few seconds.
